DELEGATE SHEREE SAMPLE-HUGHES Sheree Sample-Hughes is an American politician who is the Speaker pro tempore of the Maryland House of Delegates and serves as a Delegate to the Maryland General Assembly representing legislative district 37A in Dorchester and Wicomico Counties on Maryland’s eastern shore. COMMISSIONER DELIA TURANO SCHADT Commissioner Schadt is a native of Cumberland, Maryland, and graduated from James Madison University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science in 1989. She earned her Juris Doctor from The University of Dayton School of Law in 1992. She then served as law clerk to The Honorable J. Frederick Sharer and The Honorable Gary G. Leasure in the Circuit Court for Allegany County. She began her legal career practicing workers’ compensation boards until being appointed to the Maryland Workers’ Compensation Commission by Governor Martin O’Malley in 2011. CHARLES SHULTZ, Esq. Mr. Shultz is a partner with Berman, Sobin, Gross, LLP and focuses his practice on representing the injured public safety members of our community. He began his legal career as a workers’ compensation defense attorney, handling cases for Prince George’s County Public Schools. He has years of experience trying cases at all levels of the process from the Workers’ Compensation Commission to Maryland’s highest courts. Mr. Schultz represents injured workers throughout Maryland. Jason founded Schultz Legal, LLC in 2017 and focuses on workers’ compensation and personal injury. Prior to law school, Jason worked for health care unions as a political and union organizer in MD, PA and WV. He’s continued representing union members and regularly speaks to local unions, educating union officers and members in workers’ compensation. Jason currently serves on the Board of Governor’s for the Maryland Association of Justice and is the co-chair of the Workers’ Compensation Section. Jason has been named a Super Lawyer “Rising Star” annually since 2014. Jason is also a member of the MSBA, Baltimore City Bar Association, Baltimore County Bar Associaton and Workers’ Injury Law & Advocacy Group. Jason was born and raised in Bridgeport, WV and received his BA from Ohio University, Masters’ in Public Policy from Johns Hopkins University and J.D. from the University of Baltimore. ASHLEE K. SMITH, Esq. Ashlee Smith graduated with a B.A., from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (2003); J.D., cum laude, University of Baltimore (2006). In 2006, Ms. Smith’s comment Vice-a-Verdict: Legally Inconsistent Jury Verdicts Should Not Stand in Maryland was published by the University of Baltimore Law Review. The comment was later cited by the Maryland Court of Appeals in its seminal decision in Price v. State, 405 Md. 10 (2008), which reversed many years of precedent and held that legally inconsistent jury verdicts in criminal cases were no longer permissible. Prior to joining Godwin, Erlandson & Daney, LLC in 2011, Ms. Smith worked for a private insurance defense firm for four years. Currently, she concentrates her practice on the defense of workers’ compensation claims, general liability cases, and insurance coverage disputes. Ms. Smith is a member of the Maryland Bar Association (2007) and has served on the Board of Directors for the Association of Compensation Insurance Attorneys since 2014. Ms. Smith is admitted to the bars of Maryland (2007) and the Dr. Stanley has deep expertise in population health management, self-insured health plan management, medical consumerism and direct-to-employer network enablement. Prior to joining Harvard MedTech, Dr. Stanley served as the Chief Medical Officer for the Employer and Consumer division of Cerner. ERIN H. SYNDER, Esq. Ms. Snyder is an experienced litigator and is licensed in the State of Maryland. Most of her practice focuses on criminal defense, traffic violations, automobile accidents, and workers compensation. Ms. Snyder has a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Maryland College Park and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Baltimore School of Law, Following law school Ms, Snyder served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable William C. Mulford, II in the Circuit Court for Anne Arundel County and then became an Assistant State’s Attorney in Anne Arundel County. As an Assistant State’s Attorney, Ms, Snyder prosecuted hundreds of cases both in the District and Circuit Courts. Ms. Snyder is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association, the Anne Arundel County Bar Association, the Maryland Criminal Defense Attorneys Association, and the Maryland Association for Justice.
